Is Most Improved Player The Most Backhanded Compliment?

Seems as though it says it implies you were either average or bad and one good or above average for your standard. What others thoughts on this?

It's the most useless award there is. Most of the time, it just goes to a young player who's stats improved because he got increased playing time the next year. We don't really need an award for that.

This is a good point. Although I don't agree with your conclusion. Just like the MVP award, it's a little subjective based on your criteria for the award. But you're right, more often than not it goes to the person whose stats increased mainly because of an increase in minutes. But it's a cool award. Why not?
