MUSIC WILL NEVER DIE. THE ABILITY TO GET PAID MILLIONS FOR IT MAY GET HARDER.
Did you link a podcast?shyt ain't working brehs. There's like 4-5 major artists, a few that are bubbling and that's it.. everyone else the industry tries to push gets their 15 minutes and fizzles out. Also, everything is way too fragmented.

Has the Music Industry Peaked?
Matt and Lucas Shaw discuss whether it’s time to panic for the music industry after shares of Universal Music Group tanked due to a deceleration in streaming subscription revenue growthwww.theringer.com
TikTok is the new radioThe internet ruined music. Everything is WAY too fragmented.
As a flabby head, when I was in school, even if you didn't listen to everything, you knew who the major artists and songs were. There were countdown shows on MTV, BET and every radio station. That kept everyone informed and developed a culture where everybody knew the trends and major/new artists. It tied everyone together.
None of that exists now. There is no TLR, Rap City, 106 & Park, Yo! MTV Raps, etc. People just have their own Spotify playlists and keep to themselves. It is nearly impossible for an artist to break out in a major way now.
It ranges from
Which is really an Americanized Gangnam Style in regard to song structure
to me selling out before anyone bought in, writing love songs
But also
And cameo appearances in this video
Left everything back east and went to the west coast right after high school
Brief stint with "the family" on Haight Street. Assimilated into West Oakland
Debut album 12 albums no features 7 music videos all self-financed, 1 producer in Italy, audio engineer in Germany. Never went to the studio with anyone else, never had a free studio session. 3 music videos filmed in Compton
Technology followed by laziness.Music just ain't good as it used to be. Not even close
Whats the need for physical media when you have all the songs at your fingertips![]()
Don't care. Gen X was conditioned not to care about record execs, A&Rs, or any of the middle men between the artist and the consumer.
Thread is comedy though because if you dig up old threads on streaming cats were acting like straight up mascots. Trying to guilt trip us into using streaming services.
Fred.
Whats the need for physical media when you have all the songs at your fingertips. Really this shyt was over when Metallica sued Napster, the founder warned us.
Nah im pro physical media just repeating the talking points on people on here for years saying that streaming would solve all of music issues.I don't mean physical copies, those are dead.
Any song/album I want I buy and if it's not readily available I "obtain" it. The point is, you should always have a copy yourself.
Streaming services remove or edit songs at will. Look at how long it took De La Soul to hit streaming. Look at how they butchered BIG's music over a few samples. This isn't a problem (yet) for Gen Z but Gen X and Millennials should be wary of 100% relying on streaming.
Fred.
Told you:Shares of everything tanked ... Investors get emotional and clutch their sheckles when there is even a drop of blood in the water
Some people in certain segments of investments don't have much to spare and choose investment over traditional savings accounts (devestment) so when there is a sell off they rush to get their sale in. At that point the wealthier men and institutions will come in and buy up shares at a discount
Nobody wants to be the last one to sell
But the wealthy don't want to miss put on a fire sale
But do you think your average working man is invested in UMG? No. Those are institutional investors, likely BlackRock and Vanguard, and the value to them. Is more than what is on paper but having a say in the cultural influence, for which popular music is a foremost valuable tool
The people that did that are gonna cash out regardless unfortunatelyThey did this to themselves...dumbed down the music for years, destroyed the fabric and balance of black music now you reap what you sow...
you fukking bytch...
The gift and the curse.
Artists must remove their music from streaming platforms. Or at least the ones currently out.
Artists MUST be able to sell music again.
Perhaps place 1 or 2 songs on a streaming service, but entire albums naw. We have an entire generation who think music is free.
Serious artists should not have their music on streaming platforms. Artists who have grown a real fan base shouldn't utilize the streaming platforms.
