1. Atlanta
2. New York
3. ? Perhaps La.

Thing is Atlanta rappers have a large platform in the whole south, NY is basically just NY.
Therefore it's easier for Atlanta to breed new rappers and also I just think Atlanta rappers know how to make radio hits, It's never been NY's thing.Dmx has like 4-5 multiplatinum albums with like 1 or 2 top 50 singles.

As far as Mecca, it's loosing it but it's still it if anything. People are moving to Atlanta, media sources are posting from Atlanta, labels are increasing their headcount in Atlanta, radio stations are getting popular in Atlanta, hiphop clubs are becoming famous, different areas of Atlanta etc. But today it's still all the biggest media sources are posting from NY, the radio stations with national reach and "made it" status are still NY, MTV still in NY, labels still in NY, everyone knows everything about New York etc..

But New York to the bone type of dudes like Nas, Puff and Raekwon partially live in Atlanta must indicate a shift.

dude...NYC is the mecca of the WORLD!!!! and that will never change....soon as a baby is born the first thing it registers in its little mind is that New York is a big deal!

Lol in 2013 we have Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, London, Singapore, Paris, New York, Los Angeles and other cities. Even London has been the financial capital for years now..
