A small Vibe magazine article published in early/mid 08 saying he was already signed to YM and to look out for his debut album that was going to drop the top of 2009. I saw it on his Myspace back in 08. He was so excited over it. Its probably still floating around the net. They used the whole unsigned thing to further the hero story.

They wouldn't have been bidding if he was signed.
He said himself he wasn't signed but had a verbal comittment. Because Birdman tried to catch him with a 1 milli deal in 08.
A lot of the artists on YM weren't signed.

Thats all press. Something to give the public to talk about. Trust me its impossible (50 Cent said it himself) to be playing on the radio on the hour every hour and still be unsigned. Here is the article. Its impossible to even have some sort of date set for a debut without being signed.
