I have no idea what public broadcasting programing is, how it's different from other networks or the science behind how it really works.


I'm just tired of these ninjas always asking me for money and handouts


Watching this Motown 25 special right now on PBS and they're asking me for $84 to own a copy of the dvd

Funding for PBS programs comes from a variety of sources - member stations' dues, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, government agencies, foundations, corporations and private citizens.

In addition to seeking foundation and corporate support, producers are able to seek production funding through PBS. Though some submissions may not be priorities for funding, we encourage producers whose projects meet our content goals to seek alternative financing to cover the full cost of production and to submit their projects at rough cut or completion.

Aside from the general fund, PBS also disburses production dollars through a jointly managed Program Challenge Fund with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

don't let anyone trick you into thinking a large portion of our tax dollars are being wasted either. the funding for PBS from the government is miniscule compared to basically everything else in the budget. their nightly news is the best of all the major networks/american cable networks. as for that DVD shyt, just don't buy it.
