Is Pharrell number one for longevity as a top producer in the game?

I mean in terms of quality. He ain’t fall off yet.

I‘m not sure I can think of someone else with that longevity.

Am I being unfair to anyone by forgetting them, or is it really P out here on his own?

(For the record i’m not a Pharrell stan, this just how I’m seeing it right now)

Rick Rubin was on Lil Uzi Verts 'Pink Tape' which dropped last year.

In the 2010's he was on:

Kanye West – Yeezus
Eminem – The Marshall Mathers LP 2
Wu-Tang Clan – A Better Tomorrow
GoldLink – And After That, We Didn't Talk
Kanye West – The Life of Pablo
Eminem – Revival

The answer is Rick Rubin.

I’d say he’s fallen of. I don’t think it’s even a reasonable suggestion. No offense.

That list isn’t doing much for me outside of TLOP & Yeezus and even then I’d chop up the lions share of that work to Kanye.

Yeah he has been around since forever, but his star dimmed a long loooong time ago.

You said longevity. The songs on TLOP are 32 years since Rick Tubin started and those songs he was a part of were the bangers. Pharell don't got 32 years of producing so the answer is still Rick Rubin.

According to you he fell off but if in this decade, top names like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Imagine Dragons, Santana , Kesha and Lil Uzi Vert are recruiting him then something on your end aint adding up

And lets not forget, Pharell also does R&B and Pop so me bringing up the alternative stuff is fair game for Rick

The Strokes won best rock album in 2020 the Grammys but according to you he fell off :heh:

This here.

No one has the amount of work, and the consistency, on the level of ALC or Q-Tip. Tip's been doing it since the late 80's. Ridiculous amount of classic tracks. And he's still better than everybody on the boards. Longevity, you gotta mention dudes like Dre and Premier. Definitely Diamond, Pete, Madlib, etc.

Can't really count P because he was part of a production duo for most of his career, so 1/2 that credit goes to Chad.

Rick Rubin has never programmed a damn drum hit or anything in his life. I hope you know this when you and many others keep mentioning him behind legends like Pharrell

That goof curates the recording experience he's a studio coach. And people still continue to glaze him.

:camby:

I expect much more from a rap subforum. No he is not the answer unless the question is what does white privilege look like:scust:
