Is Pharrell number one for longevity as a top producer in the game?

According to you he fell off but if in this decade, top names like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Imagine Dragons, Santana , Kesha and Lil Uzi Vert are recruiting him then something on your end aint adding up

And lets not forget, Pharell also does R&B and Pop so me bringing up the alternative stuff is fair game for Rick

The Strokes won best rock album in 2020 the Grammys but according to you he fell off :heh:

Ahh yes, hip hop legends The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Imagine Dragons :stopitslime:

Rick Rubin is a curator.

One rock band said they hired him for big money and he laid down on a sofa closing his eyes for a couple hours, opened them and said “take that sound out” then went home.
Imagine that. And his mythology still reigns supreme in rap. It's fukking embarrassing. One of the earliest culture vultures. And dude tried naming him as someone who remained relevant as a rap producer. Rick has hated rap since back when he could no longer ask an engineer to throw a garbage riff over some break. As per his own words. That's why he "left rap". Yet here we are 50 years into the culture 30+ of it recorded and people STILL naming that man as a rap producer let alone one of the greats.

Yuck. Embarrassing. This a black forum? :what:

He’s hit or miss with emphasis on miss for the last 20 years. People who are more underground like Premo and Pete are a lot more consistent. But on the other hand, also not risk takers; which means kinda boring but solid music

Rick Rubin has never programmed a damn drum hit or anything in his life. I hope you know this when you and many others keep mentioning him behind legends like Pharrell

That goof curates the recording experience he's a studio coach. And people still continue to glaze him.

:camby:

I expect much more from a rap subforum. No he is not the answer unless the question is what does white privilege look like:scust:
Was waiting for this. Brehs out here really comparing Rick Rubin to Pharrell?! And, defending it as a fair/better comparison?!

Shame on you niccas :scust: :whew:

I don’t care if I catch hate for this, a lot of producers that I listen to…I’d listen to their instrumentals because the beat is THAT good.

There’s not 1 instrumental from Pharrell that I desire to listen to.

Probably Swizz Beats too.

They can make good music at times but a top producer can make a instrumental a song it’s self too.

No amd here's why:

1) He fell off, but recovered so no one acknowledges the fall off.

2) Being as how The Neptunes were #1 from 2002-2006 and then weren't hot again until Pharrell's comeback in 2013. You'd have to acknowledge a fall off.

3) Dre and Timbaland compete for that spot considering the run Timbaland had during The Neptunes fall off. Yes, Pharrell is better than Timbaland in 2025 and has been since 2015. That said Timbaland was on before The Neptunes or Pharrell were known entities and he was killing it during the 2007-2010 period when The Neptunes and Pharrell cooled off. He was also huge during the Pharrell comeback.

Dre goes back to NWA and World Class Wreckin Crew. So you have that era. The era with D.O.C and the next NWA album, N4L. The Chronic/Doggystyle era with Snoop Dogg. You have the Eminem/Chronic 2001 era. The 50 Cent/Game era.

You said longevity. The songs on TLOP are 32 years since Rick Tubin started and those songs he was a part of were the bangers. Pharell don't got 32 years of producing so the answer is still Rick Rubin.
He don’t? Bro was legit making songs w/ Teddy Riley

Rcik ain't a really hiphop producer and we all know this. He also has so much trash in the rap genre.
