Carti is in the same lane as Travis Scott to me: Vibe rappers who can make very good music that isn't lyric focused.

I don't even rate them as rappers like that but more so as music makers who happen to rap.

Musically, Carti isn't really that bad if you understand what lane he's in.

Youngboy is worse to me because I find his music much worse and he's being touted as a good emcee/songwriter which is bad because it's lowering the standards. At least Carti stays in his lane and doesn't present himself as an emcee.
But Travis Scott is still a decent songwriter and he didn't start as an autotune rapper. These guys don't have songs just run on sentences and adlibs

Carti is at least different even tho it’s not coherent

Travis Scott only became popular ripping Swae Lee, and he has no bars.

Carti shows how much people want something different. It dont matter if he sucks, his beats different his flows and cadence is unique and thats all people care about. Tell spitters they need to be different then you'll see them in the mainstream again :yeshrug:
This. There's a reason why rappity rappers and lyricists fell out of favor [for the vast majority of people].

Not only do níggas who gas up that flavor of hip-hop not actually buy records, but they, mostly, aren't savvy regarding checking for what new/upcoming rappers who fit that mold drop, so they're essentially stuck in a period of nostalgia because they run back old records repeatedly.

Lastly, most of those kats have a consistently bad ear for beats, which is why Kendrick and Cole are damn near the only prominent lyricists that move units.
