Is PTSD from living in the hood or living in poverty real?

Every black person in america needs to try therapy... every single one of us
I believe this too. I went to therapy while I was going thru a divorce and found out shyt that had nothing to do with my marriage was affecting me and prolly affected my marriage too. shyt was deep and I learned a lot about myself. I was in the 5th grade when I was outside with my friends and we went in on of their houses to get some water and we found his father OD’ed. That shyt had stuck with me and I didn’t even realize it. That was just the earliest thing tho. There was a lot after I won’t get into but these experiences do effect us well into adulthood and we need to get a handle on them

I believe so. Living in certain conditions affect your mentality and who you are.

Hell Yea I was repping Piru in the 90s Newark NJ ended up moving to a predominantly Crip and grape street hood from like 98 until I joined the Army...then fought in Iraq twice...sometimes I think the hood PTSD is worse than the Army Ptsd...

Yes. Living in a high crime makes you more observant but also paranoid af. More aware that your life can get obliterated in a NY minute. Learning the code of the streets is learning how to survive.
