At the end of the day I knew McCants wasn’t gonna be a great player in the league for the following reasons:

-too short for the way he plays
-not athletic enough to make up for his lack of height (average first step/quickness)
-couldn’t shoot well enough to make up for his lack of height and athleticism
- was never a great finisher at the rim
-didn’t even care about the defensive end
-didn’t do anything else but score but wasn’t built to score effectively at the NBA level

We can talk about him burning bridges or not being a good teammate or whatever but at the end of the day he just wasn’t good enough. He just couldn’t beat his man and finish well at the rim or shoot efficiently enough at the NBA level and since there was nothing else to his game there really wasn’t a point of keeping him on a roster.

Rico Hines always be talking about there are two or three guys on every team whose job is to score and if that’s not you then you better be really good at something else. McCants never adjusted to not being a top scoring option. Same shyt happened to a guy like Shabbazz Muhammad. But then you look at a guy like Aaron Gordon and he figured out that he gotta do something else other than score to stick around and now he’s a champion.
