It's the internet. If they can't express their true opinions because of fear of a rep system that means nothing in the real world, they have bigger issues. The rep system was always an easy way to see who were the trolls.

Not really because there are plenty of posters deep in the red who are known trolls/agitators. Obviously there are some exceptions but not too many. And I think he was one of those posters who started out decent then started being over the top for attention.
