For all the grief I've given Naruto for falling off after the timeskip, this is one of the things that I thought Kishi handled brilliantly.

I didnt like his death either but if we keep it real they stopped writing for Neji back in the 1st series. He was one of my favorite characters but when he died I wasn't tripping hard like everybody else. If Shikamuru died I would've been through with this shyt. Hell his old man Shikaka even sacrificed himself for that intel.
