Is season 5 of Martin the worst ending season for a show ever?

Season 5 in general is a complete slog.

Besides the Martin and Tisha situation, allegedly, the reason why the show ended the way it did towards the last few episodes was that it was going to set up Pam's spin-off show called Goin' For Mine which was based on the same season 5 episode of Martin, that was supposed to be her backdoor pilot episode.

Which would've continued the storyline of her record-producing career and somewhat given insight into Martin and Gina's marriage. It would've featured appearances from Tommy, Cole, and Gina (I doubt Martin) but Fox changed their mind and decided to scrap it at the last minute.

So because of that Martin never really got the ending it deserved.

You can look at some episodes in that last season and see that Martin was tired as hell; in some of the episodes he looked like he had just woke up.

Was he already on medication at this point, or did he just not want to do the show anymore?

The ironic thing is that Will Smith admitted to being influenced by Martin in the later seasons of Fresh Prince, and he was right on the verge of becoming the biggest movie star in the world. It was his choice to end the series, he even became an executive producer in the last season, and if anything, he was pushing the comedy more and more. He was a full-on cartoon in season six.

I guess my point is that he was more Martin than the actual Martin by the time both shows ended. :russ:

By mid 90s Martin was a superstar
Can’t speak for the rest of the cast though
Was talking about on the show. They both made it after all them years and we didn’t get a proper sendoff. shyt was sad on an otherwise goat show

Season 5 was good until the Gina left the show. It was typical Martin up until then.

It killed the chemistry and Martin was checked out mentally at that point.

That’s what made the last season of Fresh Prince wack to me. Will got around Martin and it showed. His character somehow became more obnoxious than before. shyt was ridiculous
:heh:
