Yes, but some people once they make up their mind on vengeance there is no convincing them to stop.
If you going this route go with the slow and long play to catch them on their heels, however you're going down a dark path that might destroy you and turn you into that thing you hate the most.
Study your mark. Shiiiiet read the 48 laws of power and the art of war.
But if you can, stop. and let the universe handle it.

Sometimes we want to be vengeful because we are slighted a little bit. We get vengeful sometimes over trivial things, and I think it'll be better for our physical and mental health if we just "let it go".
Then again, there are serious "life-altering" things that another person does to you, and then it might become your whole purpose of being to get back at that person that wronged you.

Interesting interpretation, props. Looking at it that way its not revenge if its immediate as its a reaction to a provocation lets say whereas taking the L, walking it off, stewing and then plotting revenge is actually a huge waste of your energy, time and potential against someone who probably hasn't thought about you since.
Like I said, both contain the truth but I've been starting to view "bad" events as something else entirely recently due to an insight.

It involves reincarnation (which is a fact for me) and exactly what it is that keeps us stuck on the wheel of incarnation. Consider a vendetta, mafia style where beef is everlasting through generations but apply it to lifetimes instead and you'll see what I mean. Or maybe you'll draw an entirely different conclusion which would also be interesting.
Either way, I see myself as responsible for everything that happens to me as well as all I send into this realm and that really is whats at the heart of it.
