he was a top 5 defender at both positions combined though.I agree, but Marion's portfolio for his career statistics is more complete than both Cassell and Richmond, not to mention he could realistically keep playing for 3-4 more years as a productive player. He's having another good season this year.
Not saying he will get in but...he's making a little bit of a case.

Being top 5 has never been a prerequisite for being in the hall of fame
he could have had an HOF career had he not try to squeeze the Suns for more money.
His discontent was indirectly responsible for breaking up that great Suns team.
He was NEVER better than Duncan, KG, Dirk, Webber, and even Malone late in his career.
