I do find it strange that he is out for the year...the last year of his contract...but he hasn't said he is retiring...

Like...if you can't even pick up luggage then...

This piece of investigative journalism needs to be stickied. The lakers are engaging in insurance fraud. Nash should run back to Canada since they won't extradite him.

The question has to be asked. He went from being the team's starting point guard to being declared out for the season with almost nothing in between.

Here is the timeline:
7/28/14 - Many articles come out announcing that this will be Nash's last season. From insidesocal.com : "
“I think this is my last season,” said the 40-year-old Nash in a video posted by Sport TV. But I still love to play, practice and work on my game. I’m going to spend hopefully many many years living this life without basketball. It’ll be nice to play one more year.”

The article also talked about how the Lakers had no plans to trade him or waive him through the stretch provision.

9/11/14 - Short term bandaid coach Byron Scott announces his preferred starters and Steve Nash is one of them.

10/4/14 NBC puts out an article titled "Steve Nash says he felt 100 percent all summer long". In the article, they reference a Steve Nash quote from the Toronto Star: "
“I was playing soccer, and I went out there and after a few minutes I said, holy s—,” says Nash, on the phone from Los Angeles. “I’m 100 per cent. Stop, start, change direction, mobility, explosiveness — I could go as hard as I wanted. So the next step was, is this going to sustain itself? Because I was used to the whole ‘hey, something will happen in the next two weeks that will kind of knock you back.’

“And it never really happened. I just kept going all summer. I never really had a setback. And it allowed me to enjoy the summer in a way I couldn’t the previous summer, where I was rehabbing twice a day for five months, basically. I think it took a little pressure off me, and just a little bit of joy, where it’s life-giving, instead of crumbling.”

10/7/14 - LA Times article titled "Lakers' Steve Nash is encouraged about health" Pretty boring article but it reaffirms his health after playing a couple preseason games.

10/12/14 - Steve Nash plays like crap against the Golden State Warriors and they lose by 41 points. He asked out of the game after 1 quarter saying he didnt feel right. The question was not how injured he was, it was why the rest of his loser teammates didnt do the same thing to avoid the embarrassment they were suffering on the court.

10/15/14 - He made a stupid tweet about buying an eco friendly Christmas tree. Nowhere in the tweet did he say he was in terminal pain and needed to retire.

10/15/14 - Multiple articles come out that he tweaked his back lifting a bag. No confirmations were made if it was the bag of dirty laundry he aired out in a soon to be published Henry Abbott's article about Kobe Bryant. The injury is believed to be a minor setback but nothing serious.

10/16/14 - It is announced that Steve Nash's bag carrying injury was minor and he plans to play in that night's preseason game against the Utah Jazz (he does not end up playing in the game)

10/20/14 - Henry Abbott releases a dynamic article about Kobe Bryant. Steve Nash is quoted several times in the article by name with comments that are malign and uncontroversial. It is unknown if he provided any of the unnamed sources.

10/23/14 - Lakers president Jeanie Buss appears on a hack talkshow on ESPN radio and is very upset about the article. She says they will get to the bottom of the sources and remove the leak from the payroll.

Later that day, the Lakers announce that Steve Nash will miss the entire season with ongoing back issues. There is no mention of retirement. There is no mention of rehab. In an ESPN article that day, they spoke to Mitch Kupchak. "I'm not going to share too much," Kupchak said when asked about the conversations that led to Nash's decision. "A lot of that is private stuff, but I would say we had discussions at the beginning of the week. I have a pretty good relationship with [Nash] over the years. I think I talked to Steve more than the representative about the issue and I have a great relationship with Bill Duffy, his agent. In fact, Bill and I met here yesterday to make sure we're on the same page in terms of the [news] release because it's a sensitive kind of thing. It's a little unusual. Something like that you normally hammer out with an agent, but because of the relationship [with Nash] I spent a lot of time with him."

So even though he said this was his last season and he's not retiring, he's already being ruled out for the season? :what: The Lakers figure to receive salary cap relief and an injured player exception, not to mention that Nash's salary should be covered mostly by insurance. They receive a pretty clear benefit from Nash not playing, so what happened here?

@houston911 you have always fought the good fight about players getting blackballed. Don't let one of the only two time MVP winners of our time go out like this. Lets make sure everyone dotted all of the i's and crossed all the T's throughout this process.

God didn't want Steve Nash to win a championship. It's unfortunate that Kobe Bryant had to be punished along with him.
Steve Nash didn't want Steve Nash to win a Championship

if he woulda played a little D in the 2003 WCF (the closest that career loser ever came to winning the ship) maybe the Mavs beat the Spurs

:scust: @ your D being so terrible that even scrubs like Speedy Claxton looked like an All Star when playing you one-on-one
