Is suicide a selfish act?

A friend of mine killed himself 2 weeks ago. Dude had been missing for two days. shyt was all over the news in Richmond. Turns out dude killed himself and died alone in a cornfield somewhere in the outskirts of Goochland. I felt real bad about him killing himself, just bc we had had a convo about mental illness before. He had tried to convince me to go to AA because he had been going there and thought it would help with my social drinking.

The fukked up thing about it is my friend had two small children who were both under 3. One was only 4 months old! Everyone was speculating that he killed himself (news didnt say how he died after they announced that they found him), so his wife released a statement saying that his family was thankful for all the condolences and that what breh did wasnt a selfish act

Brehs im super supportive of peiple with mental illness and im compassionate about suicidal deaths, but how in the fukk is my friend killing himself to leave his new born and toddler alone without a father (along with his wife) not selfish? While clinical major depression is a disease that has to be taken seriously, i can't find it in my heart to say that what he did wasn't selfish. I feel sorry for him and his condition and that he suffered greatly, but i couldnt ever kill myself right after having a baby and having another son thats 2.

It is selfish, but they aren't thinking clearly.
People who commit suicide believe there is no other way out from their bad situation. Sometimes there is a non-death solution, but they don't want to face that because the consequences require that person to endure a big loss or embarrassment, like not being able to pay the bills and filing for bankruptcy, losing a house because they can't pay the mortgage, failing a relationship, etc.

Because of the correlation between depression and suicide . On top of my friends wife coming out and saying he suffered from Major Depressive Disorder.

A lot of things. My personal experiences, others experiences, various religious texts, etc.

I believe we reincarnate on this plane until we get karmically correct. Once we prove ourselves, we go somewhere much better.

But gotta prove you're worthy.

That to me is the whole point of our life. Live with integrity no matter what you go thru.

We are ALL being tested in many different ways. How do you react to those tests defines your character.

I believe we have the choice to reincarnate. Some people choose to come down and some people choose to stay where they ate. I do believe we come down to advance to a highee spiritual realm bc i don't believe God is in heaven. From my spiritual experiences, obes, etc along with things my friend who has obes told me, im pretty sure hes not there. Actually I had an experience that was dream like but could have been an obe. I went to some place in the clouds and all of the people that inhabited this city in the clouds had no clue how they had got there. I ended up in a church with these people. They were worshipping God. Somehow people found out the pastor was a former murderer and they decided to kick him out of the city. Very weird experience but this reflects my belief that there are many places in heaven, but God isnt there.

There's really no absolute answer to this, it's a matter of perspective. From mines though I don't really see it that way as a lot of people who do take their own life just have issues and don't see any other solutions to their problems or depression.

However if that person has already gone out of their way to build their own family n such then it's pretty selfish to take yourself away from such responsibilities. If you having problems then the family you invested in should have your back and suicide shouldn't even be an option.

It just seems like everytime somebody commits suicide folks think they were depressed. Maybe they just don't want to be here, depression ain't gotta play a factor in every suicide case. Nobody knows why that person did it but them. It's not always depression, not speaking about your friend.

Bullshyt. I've known people with severe mental conditions. When they are living a clean and healthy lifestyle, exercising etc their mental problems are virtually nil. If they are heavy drinkers/druggies, watch out. It's up to them.

Whatever your genetic makeup/deformities/disabilities are, it is likely karmic balancing from your current or past life.

If you are putting out negativity, you attract negativity. It's the energy flow of the universe. Call it God or whatever you want but that's how it works.

You hate God because you don't want to take responsibility for yourself and your actions. You will continue getting those lessons until you grasp that what you're doing is morally wrong. Yes believe it or not, THERE IS SUCH A THING AS RIGHT OR WRONG.

You sound like a little kid who gets grounded by your parents and you think they are the meanest people on earth, you hate them and want to run away. Do you really think they do that because they hate you? No it's the opposite, they love you and are teaching you a lesson.

In all honestly it’s a very selfish act , I still think about it till this day and we weren’t even that close so I can imagine how her parents feel .

I use to think about it as a kid so I definitely ain’t bias about it , you should NEVER kill yourself , you’ll put your family thru a mental hell , next time you feel suicidal or sad don’t even entertain those thoughts , I believe in god so I don’t reslly feel depression as much anymore , always remember you control your mind this life is a simulation
