i heard this in and interview and agree.
swizz knows how to make good songs but his instrumentals alone are terrible. i could listen to a dre, kanye, pharrell, just blaze instrumental album but swizz beatz.. nahh

He isn't hated so much as he is mostly just wack.
From 1998-2000, Swizz was consistently dope. You'd hardly hear a complaint aside from his beats sounding the same. He stayed producing anthems. Then he was lowkey from '01-'03. Around late '03, he started with the back to back bangers. Pretty much everything after "Bring Em Out" has been hit or miss. On top of that, his best work didn't age that well. He isn't wack, just inconsistent.

his beats wouldnt be so bad if he didnt adlib over them and do his corny ass hooks. but every once in a while he drops a gem. im more annoyed by him than his beats

People are seriously forgetting how Swizz crafted the first two DMX albums, the first Ruff Ryders album, the first Eve album, and his other great beats from 1998-2001. basically dude was a MONSTER in those years and created some fun ass beats....he fell off after that, but remember that Swizz had shyt on lock back then
