Is taking Olajuwon over Shaq to start a team a bad decision?

some dudes today were saying that shaq is so dominant that you have to take him over any center in history or risk playing against him. i think hakeem is the better player and does more on the court than shaq ever did so i would take him over pretty much anyone except maybe kareem. i know hakeem kind of outplayed a younger, smaller oneal earlier in shaq's career, but if this is 2001 shaq, is prime olajuwon going to dominate him or get dominated more? discuss.

They would cancel each other out but it's easier to build a great team with Hakeem tho.
do you see hakeem getting manhandled the way the centers in the early 2000s did or would he wear shaq out from getting 30 ppg also?

I love Hakeem but he was getting dominated by a young Shaq. Shaq averaged 28/12/6/ on 59%. I don't think anyone is capable of slowing Shaq down, he was killing prime Alonzo Mourning, DRob before even hitting his own prime.

Hakeem was dominating himself, with a 33/12/6/2/2 statline on 48% shooting. The previous series he made David Robinson, the MVP of the league, look pedestrian. Like another poster said, they would cancel each other out at this point in their careers.

If I'm going to build a team from scratch in TODAY'S NBA, I'm definitely going Hakeem for his complete game. It translates much better in today's league.
