I think it's QBs, the difference between a legit starter and a straight backup is stark.

I think that falls in line with OL play. If you give a legit NFL QB some time, he'll eat. Now there are some guys who just can't get it down, but I feel the overwhelming majority of guys can feast with time.

Tell David Carr that and see if he doesn't punch you in the face
David carr just sucks. This is always whats brought when people say the idea of great oline play is overrated.

Peyton Manning would've have dominated behind that Oline.

Sarcasm?

The point I'm trying to make is the difference between a mediocre and excellent oline is due to factors outside of the Oline (QB)
Definite sarcasm.

A QB can definitely make a o-line look better or worse than it is, but you're exaggerating when you say it "doesn't matter." Like, for instance, my own team. For some reason due to low sack totals, our o-line was rated quite high last season and the past few as well. But if you watch the games, you'd see there is no way that this o-line is top 10, let alone top 3, as they're named by some morons occasionally. One of the only things that Andy Dalton does well is he has a retardedly quick release, and he gets rid of the ball faster than most QBs in the league. Makes the o-line look better than they are.

But using just sack totals when evaluating o-lines is kinda bullshyt, especially when dealing with a retarded QB who is unable to sense pressure or get rid of the ball when need be.

A GREAT HOF QB like Manning or Rodgers can over come a meh line, no shyt. They're all time greats. But most QBs in the league aren't all time greats.

The Bengals problems is not oline and them having an excellent Oline wouldn't change their fortunes.

So yes Oline is and will always be Overrated.

I was using that to support my argument. I don't need you telling me what "our problems" are, nikka. That aint the topic of discussion. :camby:

But you're obviously just trolling so I'm out. Aint nobody who knows a goddamn thing about football says that o-line is overrated. You're either trolling, or know jack shyt about the GOAT sport :yeshrug:

In today's day and age, you can find a QB who can fill in and do pretty well. But if your star lineman is out? A LT at that? You're fukked. It shows right away.

once them 2nd and third stringers come in, its like when i play madden how im using the turbo button as soon as im out of the pocket

Peyton is an exception not the rule. Not a lot of QB's can adjust ANY o-line like Peyton can

:laff:

cliche bullshyt.

how do measure oline play then?

By how many sacks + QB hurries the line doesnt allow if you are talking pass protection
Its hard to grade the Oline by the naked eye bc you have to grade how well they run block as well, so many moving pieces.

but if your QB has a clean pocket ..often and your RB gets hooker sized holes to hit...often....your O-line is pretty fukking good
