No, this all lies.

Average black man have active family members & friends whos family are like your own, that are great role modes.

i see young black home owners - either their fathers have left them homes or gotten into programs.

everyone is obsessed with youth.

fathers, uncles, etc have lined young brothas up to enjoy retiring

Yep.

Especially when Generation X gotten older, they bent the rules and they the first generation that kept the rugged ignorance as they gotten older. Didn't clean up their language or bad habits, play vulgar music at 45+ in front of their grow(ing) kids, still be in the club with grey hair on their heads, and overall selfish. When the strip club culture became mainstream and when those ratchet Sunday Brunches became normal while abandoning the church, is when that immaturity was normalized.

Don't be shocked in another 15 years, you see Gen X with their social security checks still be in the club and call themselves "gangstas" in retirement.

I told you generation X f*cked all of this up while y'all was focusing on the boomers. Black boomers fcked up by trying to hold on to power in every position until they died. But that was because that was the 1st job they ever had after getting whooped by jim crow and picking cotton. So I understand.. But this gen X. :smh:

Most of these are reaches and generalizations.

Every black man I know WANTS to travel. Never heard anyone say it's lame.

I don't know anyone who clowns Jay-Z, specifically for being old.

Us not investing or buying houses has less to do with desire and has more to do with not having enough MONEY.

Most of the things you mentioned have nothing to do with our supposed obsession with youth.

Maybe we are obsessed with youth, but these points fail to illustrate that.

There a so many theses in the coli clowning JayZ for his age as well for his looks

You can invest 5 dollars a week in index funds but we dont have a long term view

Coli posters here have been clowning older people who travel. Also most women want to travel a lot of black men don’t have any interest

Like, a lot of older Gen X heads act like DMX (RIP), still smoking and drinking like a 20 something year old and calling themselves "real nikkas" instead of acting their age and read a few books to pass down some information for their Gen Z children. Someone else said that a lot of older brehs still caught up in "hustling" because of no long term outlook, and doing odd jobs at 40 and 50 something years old for petty cash. Like, I got off of drinking excessively years ago because I was worried that it would make me broke and fat, and I wasn't even 30 yet. Now you got people over 50, still cussing a storm and be in the club regularly to "fuk some bytches" in some trendy shyt.

The main reason 40/50 year old rappers get clowned the way the do is to how vulgar and minstrel like mainstream rap is. A 22 year old high out his mind with his pants falling off of his waist drapped down in gucci rapping about "spinning blocks" and how much "work" they moved is embarrassing but somewhat digestible to people. It looks alot worse when It's a man old enough to be that 22 year olds father moving the same way.

The main beef is that the 40-50 year old rapper that refuses to mature and have quality subject matter. Nas is wayyyyyy ahead of his time with his albums from Stillmatic onwards, because he knows that he cannot be performing tracks like "U owe me" at 50 something years old, while other rappers like Future doubling down on tricking on thots and making trap anthems while throwing shade at people that act their own age.

Its a lot. Facebook f*cked Generation X up. Generation X is that generation that wanted to be friends with their kids. No way a parent should be on social media with their damn kids. I knew it was time for me to stop going to clubs when I started seeing the kids I knew from birth in the same club. ITS OVER!!

Thats why I don't mind being a "old head" because I know that the people calling me such is going to have to face it. Hopefully they'll know when to let that shyt go better than their parents did.

Peter Pan syndrome.

And no Rites of Passage rituals into adulthood for girls and boys.

You only get transitions when you join a frat/soror, military, or some secret order

If you're christian, might have to make a thing to Baptize kids again at a certain age, and then emphasize what that actually means

black people never want to grow up. there is an infantilized quality to the thinking of our community.

you see signs of it on this forum.

dudes on here will clown those in their 30s and 40s, calling them “old,” as if people in their 30s and 40s aren’t still considered young by every other community.

to a lot of black people, anything beyond your 20s is old.

and because of it, many of our men and women feel forced to live out second childhoods.
