In 2008 Canadian Smartphone Giant RIM (Research In Motion) was in desperate need of a touchscreen smartphone to compete with the likes of Apple's extraordinarily game changing iPhone as well as Google's rapidly popular G1 running the potentially revolutionary Android mobile OS. Released in July of that year, the iPhone 3G brought with it the App Store, a powerhouse hub for apps that utilized the iPhone as a gaming machine, a business tool, and a general Swiss Army knife of usefulness. In October that year Google, Working with HTC and T-Mobile debuted the G1, which brought with it the promise of open-ended customization. The smartphone world was rapidly changing and RIM was expected to become a full member, if not leader, of this dawning age of mobile computing.....

Released in November 2008, the Blackberry Storm was certainly a perfect Storm of Thunderous failure. shytty battery life, an archaic OS with a shiny coat of paint, a clickable screen that was absurdly rushed and botched at every angle, lacking WiFi. The Storm was a combination of desperation and despair from a company who was VASTLY out of touch with the reality of their own technological morality. RIM had just exposed themselves as the DEFINITION of flabby and sick:flabbynsick:. Customers banished them, Critics crucified them, and God abandoned them. The Storm was meant as a triumphant entrance into the ring of iPhone and Android and was treated like Sonny Liston after Cassius Clay turned him into a mockery.

So the question is

The storm was a dumb ass phone. Dont get me wrong, i did like to feel of clicking that screen, but the way it kept shifting to the side was horrible. It wouldve been a good idea if they could properly engineer it, but no way would that make it worth the cost to a consumer.

I'd say Droid Charge or EVO 3D

Those phones weren't meant to be game changers in the way the Storm was. The Storm was the most hyped smartphone event of 08 behind the IPhone 3G and G1. Expectations were at a fever pitch, many were saying that a RIM based touchscreen phone was going to be the one true iPhone killer. RIM went from respected smartphone King to irrelevant has-been virtually OVERNIGHT after this phones release. Critics bashed it mercilessly, returns were astoundingly high. It's probably the worst flopped smartphone in current history

My uncle job gave him the Storm 2 a slightly better version of this phone. He absolutely hated that phone and was thrilled when his job offered him a iPhone.

As soon as I heard about the Storm dropping I was looking forward to the Storm 2. I figured the first touchscreen was gonna have issues. The 2 was probably one of the most underrated phones ever. The click screen was built into the software so there was no screen shift because the screen wasn't actually moving.

I always say any phone is only as good as the user so my Storm 2, I'm sure was better than most. That being said, the original Storm really did suck.
