Is the Center is no longer the weakest position in the NBA?

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
I think the center position has got a bad rap for a few years now. A lot of those guys the threadstarter mentioned as well as Brook Lopez are decent to above average big men. And some of them could have played in the so called great 90's era of big men. But quick question, after Dream Shaq Robinson Ewing and Zo where were all these great HOF big men that everyone talks about. It's not like every team had a 20 and 10 beast back then. Hell, didn't Jon Koncak get the biggest contract ever at one point. Dwight Bynum Demarcus and both Gasols may not be all time greats but they definitely have Hall of Fame type talent.

After HOF big men, you still had dudes that produced -

Brad Daughtery
Dino Radja
Rony Seikaly
"Who wants to sex" Mutumbo
Kevin Willis
Rik Smits
Vlade

I mean, Kevin Duckworth (RIP) would be getting a max contract today, and Pervis Ellison if healthy would get buckets  . The center position is getting better, but the late 80s and early 90s was the age of the center.

I forget which GM it was but he said their training staff said don't draft B. Roy because his knees wouldn't last 5 years in the NBA.

How is that the Blazer's fault? :wtf:

Right, it was well-known that Roy had weak knees in college. That's why he 'dropped' to 6. Kind of like Perry Jones getting passed up partly because of his knees.

Nah bruh Demarcus is a legit 5. He's damn near as tall as Drummond and i don't see no one calling him a pf. I don't know what Sac was doing his rookie year having him playing Pf shooting 15 foot j's and whatnot. Why would u not want a potential 25-15 type player whose a legit 6'11 with shoes on with a 7'5 wingspan to be anywhere but center.

:ohhh: I was just thinking about this the other day

I think we starting to see the C position come up once again

The position that is really depleted now is SG, Kobe and Wade are head and shoulders above everyone else :manny:

Brandon roy , and perry jones knee issues are nothing alike , PJ3 has a slight meniscus tear which he has had well before baylor from incorrect jump form. Brandon roy has had degenerative knees since Washington.

all power forwards who can play center.

Monroe is a power forward too

they didnt help him rehab properly. And since Pryzbilla and Oden had knee issues too, you have to look at them and wonder what are they doing.

Marc Gasol is a true center.

I didn't say their issues were alike, just that teams had doubts on both players because of their knees and that's why they dropped.

The Yay
no its still the weakest and will continue to be until todays centers start learning fukking post moves. a center with legit post game will kill 3/4 of so-called good centers in the game today and will stand the fukk out

The center had been the weakest position in the NBA for long time. However, with the emergence of great and promising big men around the league, the future of the center position looks bright. You got future stars/superstars like Dwight, Bynum, Hibbert, Cousins, Monroe, Gasol, Noah, Horford and Hawes. Then you got proven vets like Bogut, Chandler, Gotrat, and Jefferson.

At the same time, the shooting guard position is getting weaker. All the great shooting guards are over 30. Kobe, Wade, Allen, Johnson, And Ginobili. Brandon Roy was supposed to be the best shooting guard in the L by next year, but blame the Blazers (speaking of the blazers imagine if Greg Oden was healthy). While lottery picks like Wes Johnson and Evan Turner didn't help strengethening the postion at all.

The future of the shooting guard in the L is in the hands of Harden, Ellis, and Gordon.

Bogut: Injury prone, seriously how many full seasons has he played (surprisingly he's only 27 tho)
Gortat=:ehh: he's been decent the last couple years in phoenix
Jefferson:  aint he a PF

Eventhough though I think the center position is still weak, the weakest position in the L is easily SG:

Kobe soon to be :flabbynsick:
Wade soon to be :flabbynsick:
Eric Gordon: wait and see
James harden: ehh wait and see
Manu Ginobli: soon to be :flabbynsick:
Monta Ellis: ehh
