It's not gifs in general, its specific gifs like the Banderas is huge on that site along with alot of other regular gifs used here. As for the rating systems, havent been to alot of forums but these are the only two where people give reps. Brah = Breh etc.

Forgive my ignorance but it seems like this site is heavily influenced by that site, in language, rep/star features, gifs etc.

Most sites based off VBulletin look alike and have the same features.

I will also add that the Coli uses XenForo which if I'm not mistaken was designed/developed by a guy that used to work for vBulletin. Since vBulletin is common, I think the owners here just want to make the features similar so that users have less problems navigating the site.
