The biggest issue with the east is health. Had teams been healthy last year i could've seen 6 teams win 50 plus
Hawks
Cavs
Bulls
Raptors
Wizards
Heat

Thats competitive

The East needs a basketball reasons intervention to supply them with Stars.

Yes, it's getting better. A healthy Cavs squad is just as good as any of the best teams in the West with teams like the Bulls, Hawks, Wizards, etc.

Curry and GSW came way the fukk outta nowhere, as did the Hawks, who were destroying Western teams so it's not like the talent is around, it can just take the right player or change (Draymond and Harrison being starters) to make everything just "click".

It's too dramatically lopsided to change during this era. The free agents are primarily going to stay out west. So the east is going to be

1:team LeBron is on,
2:a team that plays great together
3-or4 -16Trash

As fans we know a team that just plays good together isn't enough to beat LeBron in the playoffs. So no matter how many teams cycle through number two slot it will all look the same to us

This is actually a very good question.

Its seems like the better young talent is ending up in the West

The 7-8 seeds in the East are still winning 35-40 games.
The middle pack playoff teams aren't improving.
Top team in the east is whichever team Lebron plays on

All the up and coming teams of the future seem to be out west. This years #1 pick (Karl Anthony Towns) and last years #1 (Andrew Wiggins) are in Minnesota. Anthony Davis (2012 #1 pick) is in New Orleans. Utah seems to have a nice core of young players (Gobert, Favors, Hayward). The Lakers got D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle. Sacremento got Boggie Cousins. Pretty much the only team in the West without a real future is Denver.

While out East, its the complete opposite. Other than for Milwaukee, I can't think of any other up and coming teams. The Magic are a trainwreck, they have no future all-stars on that roster. Philly doesn't know what its doing. Celtics have 10 average players. Washington may have peaked as a 4 seed. Toronto's already back to rebuilding. Unless Giannis and Jabari become superstars, the East might be without a real contender after LeBron falls off in the next 3-4 years.

even with all that tanking, all the talent seems to keep going west.

fukk you bytch Denver has Mudiay :blessed:

Fukk is you talking about..Raptors are not rebuilding..Masai Ujiri has come out and said this numerous times, they are going to try to trade some pieces and are going to add some pieces in free agency....Masai is going to take a run at someone in next years FAs pool....

To answer OP's question, yes the East is getting better. Indiana and Miami are getting their two stars back and should be looking to contend in the East. The Bucks' core will continue to mature and get better as well. SVG and Brad Stevens are fantastic coaches with young talent so I can never count them out of sneaking into the playoffs.

Really only see Toronto regressing anytime soon. On the whole I think the NBA is getting more competitive.

You bum ass nikkas and ur lazy ass analyzations...

You forgot the Bulls. They are the only legit chance at not having Lebron go to the finals out of the east for the next 5 years.
:francis:
When I think of the Bulls present and future I see
  • Aging Pau Gasol
  • Derrick Rose health a question mark
  • Derrick Rose never being the 09/'10 D-Rose again, period
  • Noah may have peaked already. Not saying he's in decline but i believe he's as good as he'll get.
  • Now factor in Noah's injuries
  • As much as i like Taj Gibson and hoped the HEet could get him, he has peaked.
The only sustainable bright spot here is Jimmy Butler being a rising star. Oh and i like their european guy... Mirotic i think. Outside if that I dont see where you are getting 5 years from. They have 2 good years with that core left. After that you'll see a steep decline unless they reload via draft or trade.

Maybe @Brozay ,@CHICAGO , @red222 or @beaniemac can chime in from the BUlls heads on the board

Again, @IGSaint12 , im not saying they're not LeBron's main roadblock next year or the year after. But the next 5 years??? Delusional. :childplease:

Not that i think LeBron's dominance lasts another 5 years anyway, BTW :manny:

From the way i see it

On the Rise
  • Wizards - I like thier core. No true superstar (well maybe Wall can become one) but all around young and talented
  • Milwaukee - Same as Wizards, pretty much
  • Hawks - If they can keep their core and improve the roster with minor tweaks they'll be good for a while

Honorable Mention: Celtics: Something's got to give with all the draft picks Ainge has stock-piled

The Declining list
  • Nets - nuff said
  • Raptors - I think they have peaked. This past year was supposed to be their year. They'll continue to make the playoffs but i dont see them geting over the hump of the 2nd round.
  • Heat - Sad to say but i think we gambled too much on the future over the years throwing away draft picks
  • Pacers - Paul George will never be the same. He'll be decent... but not the same
The others will pretty much stand pat

Bulls---A year older....I just don't see them getting better

Wizards-Generic.The heart of the team/ realest nikka on the roster was :flabbynsick: Paul Pierce

Hawks-The definition of "pretenders"

Indiana-Mediocre...about to lose David West. They've overachieved in past years, but I think that's about to come to an end.

I think it comes down to Miami & Cleveland.

If healthy, the Heat should be a problem.Especially once they start to gel.

That's the only intriguing storyline out east....Bron & the Cavs vs the Heat

The NBA needs to script that....make it happen

A healthy bulls team bringing everyone back with the exception of noah/gibson (for another big) can win 50+ games again.

New coach, new system new confidence in players.

Rose and Butler working out their issues.

Mirotich having a full year under his belt with mcdermot.

Signing a backup PG
