Is The Last of Us supposed to be frustrating as shyt with very few guns and ammo?

Late pass for this game, just booted it up on the Pro, it's been a couple hours into this but I barely found any ammo and most things take 3-5 rounds to kill, so I'm having to sneak kill EVERYTHING. Is there a point after which the combat gets better or is it just about sneaking around?

I only recently checked out the Arcadium for the first time and I'm STILL trying to figure out whether you're a PS4 or XBox stan because you take so many shots at @Fatboi1

Spend time thinking about other men brehs

Far as TLOU goes, like I said, it's a survival game. You can't go into it thinking you're playing a typical action third person shooter.
You need to take your shots and use items wisely. The game rewards a much more stealthy approach.
That's not to say you can't shoot your way out of a problem, but later in the game you're going to encounter enemies that detect sound and will kill you in one hit when they find you.
Use melee weapons as your first choice in combat. Upgrade the bow and arrow when you can. Use guns in emergencies.
