First of all, they aren't Indians. When Columbus re-discovered the Americas he called the native people Indians, because he thought he reached India. The racist whites never felt the need to correct it. So for hundreds of years, they disrespected the Native people of the Americas by calling them a name that already belonged to another group of people in Asia.

Aztecs, Mayans etc were always considered "Indians" dude. Always. They are Native American.
