used to be. then i watched a newer episode like a couple months ago. I hadn't realized until that episode how stupid they made Homer. and the irony of being named after a philosopher while being so dumb. anyway, it put me off the show and relegated it to trash in my view. used to love the show growing up though but hadn't seen it in like 8-10 years before that last watch.

I'm sure they will do something interesting in all those eps, but in general it's not great.

I was around for the first several seasons which were great. I could tell that something drastic changed and I havent seen an EP that I liked after that. But I have only tried a few times after I quit watching regularly.

Hell no. That'd be The Wire.

The Wire is one of my favorite, but it exists in a pocket. HBO had a legendary run, and both The Sopranos and Wire are my favorites, but The Wire doesn't hasn't had the same impact on culture that The Simpsons had. Sopranos def had a bigger impact then The Wire. As a cartoon, The Simpsons aren't tied to reality and has a way broader spectrum of topics and themes.
