So I'm reading my Carl Jung book today, the one where he lectures at a school in Tavistock, London, and he goes on to talk about a "collective unconscious".

What a "collective unconscious" is, is a collection of thoughts, morals, behavior patterns, and even dreams that are passed from parents to their child. Which is why you have "inherit racism" and other things as well, like dreams of people you may have never met.

Anyway, it's an idea, that seems completely logical and I am wondering if there is a possibility to unlocking your unconscious mind in segments, whether it be you, or the segment of traits and ideas passed down by your father and mother, all the way down to the start of your family tree.

What do y'all think?

Collective unconscious isnt just your parents. Its a collection of thoughts, beliefs, emotions, events from the entirety of mankinds existence of the earth. And to answer your question, Jung himself said that the unconscious can be unlocked through dreams
I didn't say it was from just your parents, I used that as an example. And thanks but what about hypnosis? Most people can't remember their dreams

Im aure theres a way through hypnosis but the most direct way is through dreams
Probably able to recount your dreams easier through hypnosis. I know when I learn new things, at least now that I've been practicing the keyboard, I've been having more vivid dreams.

Other night ago I had a dream I heard the coldest Gucci mane song ever, never knew what it was, then 2 days later I heard it at my friends party. It was super weird

Meditation seems to be the only way. Psychedelics can give you a glimpse, but it's not anything to write home about..and that's coming from someone with the s/n blotter. The mind is inherently empty, free from grasping, but meditation is not attempting to make your mind empty, but to deal with it exactly how it is. It is the ultimate non-aggression first to yourself, then to the world outside of you. Once that is all uncovered we can play the games of aggression of lust etc should we want, but knowing these things don't belong to ourselves. Full circle so to speak, a journey that never needed to be made, but yet we seem to need to make it. It's quite the paradox, but should you be interested in starting just remember that it's better to finish.. If not, just forget the whole thing

When I first smoked marijuana the first few times I started questioning everything , it made me super self aware of everything , i began to have a "tunnel vision" to the truth , I wouldn't try meditating , it opens you up to demons , I've tried it a few times

yes, a very scary prospect and it is extremely painful from that point of view, but the thing with is all of those demons are just nothing, I mean really just nothing. It takes courage and is an extremely lonely path to tread, but it's good to know the option is there for some to not medicate, but to get at the root. You did hit it on the head though, openness is probably the key if you had to choose one
