Simply put I got an opportunity to get into to the trade and just wanted to see from other nikkas who are in it how it is, what’s it like, dealing with the racist cacs (that all trades have), and anything else

Also what’s the job like? I’m hearing troubleshooting those elevators/escalators can be a bytch and mentally taxing

Do it just because we need more motherfukkers to fix these elevators and escalators...shyt be broke for 4 months and they're waiting for a tech or a part from Europe :beli:

Yeahhh the reason is because the trade is super hard to get in to so they don’t have that many people to work on the stuff that does go bad. That just mean more jobs for ya boy though

Yeah well it's not a specific trade...it's part mechanical part electrical. My friend is an electrician and his company focuses on elevators and that's it..

So maybe find an electrical company that specialises in them pal.

I'm an electrician and yeah I love my trade... Wouldn't of done any other trade. I make over 100k AUD, but yeah racist Aussie cacs everywhere, all day everyday. But what workplace isn't full of racist cacs :mjcry:

Tf you talking about dikkhead it is a specific trade

That’s like saying hvac isn’t a trade because they deal with mechanical and electrical

And I 100% guarantee your friend isn’t an electrician working on elevators

:mjlol: lifts are mainly electrical, all controlled electrically.. to work on them you need an Electrical license here in Aus. Maybe it's different there dikkhead but I guarantee you'd need one there too...

Doing a "specific trade just for lifts" sounds dumb af to me.. just working on fukking lifts everyday of your life sounds boring as hell. At least being an electrician you could go change it up once you sick of lifts :what:

My friends doing a full electrical apprenticeship to become a journeyman electrician but all his company does is lifts, so stfu dumbass:heh:

You'll be working dolo often. They're not complicated after a couple of years of experience it will become mostly routine. You also don't really get dirty and that's a plus in my book. Troubleshooting anything CAN be a bytch AT TIMES. But elevators aren't rocket science and only have so many devices. How green are you? If you're serious about it you'll need to know electrical theory and how to wrench at a minimum:yeshrug:

I’m not that green. I know a lot about electrical from the difference between ac and dc, how a capacitor and inductor operate in either, how to find the voltage, current, resistance or watts in a circuit, motors, difference between single phase and three phase, basically everything you need to know. I test in two weeks so hopefully I pass it

I worked for an elevator company for years. Not physically fixing them, but on the support/finance side. It’s dangerous job mainly because of careless on the workers part as we would get emails all of the time of deaths that occurred here in the US and other countries. It’s also very difficult as some elevators are really and it’s a matter of looking at the layouts to make the new parts fit.

You’re always on call and always having to travel and fix them.
