The banger does it for his block where he lives and is often found under the duress of extenuating circumstances and, more often than not, has some personal link to his opp.
The soldier on the other hand does it for abstract concepts like "his country" or "freedom" and "liberation of the weak from oppression", all of which are a bunch of made up BS as there is no direct threat to his health and safety in the moment before he makes his decision and his reasoning is totally different.
Whilst its often personal for the banger and literal case of life and death in many events for the soldier its often way different and a lot of them who sign up have questionable motives ranging from wanting to hand out death with impunity to playing too much Call of Duty or a misplaced sense of jingoism/flag saluting.
Now, spiritually speaking and for the sake of argument, lets imagine heaven is real and these two peeps roll up to central booking and are having their tickets checked. Are they both on equal standing? Is one worse than the other? Are both going to hell for killing the son of another mother and making her shed tears for seed and his brutal demise?
The normalization of war where the old send the young to die and then brush off the survivors (who are often a mental and physical mess after what they witnessed) really is a mind boggling thing as its simply accepted as the way it is. To me its a form of ritual sacrifice in another dress and that in itself is a fascinating topic because of the implications therein.
For now, lets focus on this and if you want to extend it why would a human life way more than an animals or insects? They too have kinship and connection, elephants, giraffes and chimpanzees are known to grieve so its obvious they feel.
Like I said, the implications of the topic and the promotion of the death drive within humans is very intriguing but rarely spoken of so lets check it.
