There's nothing to learn really. Just buy $SCHD, $DGRO, $VOO, $SPY, or $VTI. Hell buy all of them. Index funds have made investing brainless. The real issue is it doesn't matter how much money you give a person having access to more money doesn't teach you how to live off less than you make and manage money.

It's hard to save if you're financially supporting 50-100 friends, relatives, baby mamas and jump offs.

If they end up doing too much that's on them. I make a habit of taking 15% of my gross income and investing it in the stock market every month. That doesn't include the other 15% I save nor the 6% that goes into my 401K. I don't make anywhere near what a ball player makes.

They might wanna buy an apartment building and rent it out to all these family members / friends based on what they can afford.

Agreed but most people in their 20s don’t have that discipline, especially if they lack guidance from family. Jordan, Curry, Kobe and a few others are outliers in that their families didn’t expect any financial support and guided them to making good decisions.

On his podcast Lou Williams said the experience White players have entering the NBA is way different. He said Kyle Korver was genuinely surprised by players financially supporting their parents and extended families. White players live in apartments, with roommates or with family for their first few years and no family asks for anything.

If you got $12.6 million on a deal you don't need to be laying on a mattress on the floor like that's worth boasting about.

I'm all for frugality but that's just wasteful.

Somewhere on an Xbox
I couldn't be an athlete. My black ass would have like 10 gold chains, a collection of 10 luxury watches, one nice ass luxury car with a a 2nd one being a daily (a Genesis, most likely), and that'd be the end of the big spending for myself:mjlol:.

I'd find an Asian wife from Japan, Vietnam, Singapore or South Korea, buy my parents and siblings 3 houses down south for no more than $800,000; a few decent cars, and that's about it. They just pay the property tax and the utilities, so easy money.

$1.5M settlement, no alimony and $5K per month in child support is surprisingly low considering he made $80M in his career. Unless he blew through the bag. He is on a G League team at 35.

After taxes alone he probably only see 45 to 50 of that....
