Is there any station that's changed as much as VH1?

They were on they're :mjpls: shyt and when they weren't, it had to be a smash hit. I remember they wouldn't even play Left Eye's verse from Waterfalls, which was probably the best part of the song aside from the hook

And I loved that shyt. Before VH1, MTV and BET were under the Viacom umbrella their was variety in programming on each channel. Now you can show the same TV show on BET, VH1 and MTV and no one would bat an eye

That's fine.

Because we had BET which played all black music, and MTV was a mixture.

Things were fine the way it was. VH1 is where I heard good songs from white artists that weren't poppy enough for MTV.
I feel you.

But I think VH1 was very pop, it was just geared to an older white audience.

Where as MTV was always about youth culture

You can say Real World/Road Rules changed the game, but it was really The Bachelor. Those elimination dating shows all follow the Bachelor's formula. I wonder who's idea it was to give Public Enemy's hype man his own show :dead: Vh1 was the shyt in the mid 2000's though. Their shows were just as good as MTV's during that era. My favorite show was The Fabulous Life Of...

Flavor of Love wasn't just the change of Vh1, it was the beginning of television culture we know today. It changed the game cause it showed the blueprint that good writing and actors aren't needed for ratings, real life rachetness can give EASY ratings with half the cost. And we had shyt like College Hill and Real World, but this set the bar to have no restrictions, let them jump on each other and keep the cameras rolling.
i actually think being bobby brown was the first reality show to show that pure fukkery could = as good or better tv than scripted tv.

but VH1, MTV, and TLC are the top 3 that come to mind...TLC is

I would've never known who John Mayer was if not for Vh1.

I would've missed out on some great adult-rock music like Lenny Kravtiz if not for Vh1, AND those "I Love the 80's" things were probanly the greatest series ever.

VH1 is a joke now. Do they even still play music?

MTV is right behind them as far as changing overhaul.

Why would they play music on TV?

The surreal life is what started the VH1 turn
