That's when television went off

after the movie poltergeist .. I made sure to NEVER be up and have the TV when the national anthem played

I remember when VH1 didn't play any black music unless it was a HUGE crossover hit.

And if that crossover hit had a rap verse on it, they would cut it out. Extremely ironic to see the same station have a franchise called "Love and Hip Hop".

As far as the thread topic goes, both VH1 and it's mama, MTV, used to be all about music videos and they almost never show them now. I remember when people used to clown MTV in the 90s for not showing enough music but they were still showing way more than they do now. It's almost like they saw the rise of YouTube and Vevo coming. I foresee a similar change happening with ESPN where it's all about talk and pop culture and they have specific channels for live sports content since people don't need to tune in for scores or news anymore.

I just gave you 2 prime examples of GAC and CMT.

Country music sells more consistently than any other genre at this point. Go into a doctors office or waiting room and it's likely to have CMT on all day.

Everybody is not on YouTube.
You are talking about 2 different audiences

I have no idea what the Country music stations are doing btw
