How can it be that hard. I use an empty glass jar to catch them. Just wait for it to sit down somewhere, and slam the jar down. It should get scared and fly into the bottom of your upside-down jar. Then you slide the lid on real quick when you lift up the jar.
It works best if they are sitting on an edge when you go to catch them. On a flat surface it often takes too long to lift the jar up and slide the lid into place, gives them an opportunity to escape. On an edge you can do it instantly.
Anyway once you've caught it just go outside and throw it out. Quick and clean and easy. Just takes a couple of minutes patience to wait for them to sit down somewhere
