Is there anything more useless in the combat realm than a black belt in Karate?

No, my cousin is a something dan in karate. He is built like a tank and has cleared out bars in time.

Granted he is a martial arts junkie so boxing, Mua Thai, Judo, Jui Jitsu are things that he's studied for decades now.

It is still going to give you better conditioning than the average person. Better form than the average person. Better reflexes and hand eye coordination.

Depends on what kinda karate. If your just fighting random bums on the street then yea that black belt is enough to body like 3 or 4 people. Kyokushin is dope af and is the striking basis for Kickboxing and Kudo/Daido Juku aka Japanese MMA. Uechi Ryu has some decent techniques from what I've seen too. I still wouldn't recommend Karate for a grown man with no martial arts background tho, instills too many habits and it takes too long to get good. You could start kickboxing/muay Thai and if you have a decent fight IQ you'll be a Savage in about a years time. Put all that studying into BJJ instead

Why don't you challenge one? Report back with your findings

My boy is a 2nd degree black belt in Tiekwondoe and recently started Mue Tye. We grapple about once every other week for practice and I tend to come out on top. He's really not that hard to take down. :yeshrug:
