Is there really a need for the Free Speech subforum in Higher Learning?

I just don't get the idea for this subforum. The mods say it's not the bushes for Higher Learning, but it really is. @Uncle_Ruckus dropped a hot thread in Higher Learning on Friday and they moved it to the Bushes which killed all of its momentum and not a single other response was added in the thread until today
All this subforum does is take away less traffic from Higher Learning that is already slow in traffic compared to the other subforums anyway

They even tried to put the missing plane thread in Free Speech until all the posters called out the mods for their bullshyt

Then they put it back in Higher Learning

Edit: There probably needs to be a third HL mod to counteract the two mods conservative nature. Would bring some balance

Imo, the subforum isn't a bad idea in concept. It's just being used wrong. It should be used only for threads about conspiracy/pseudoscience and other unsubstantiated conjecture that can't be supported with empirical data. If It were just used for that purpose, I can assure you most posters wouldn't have a problem with it.

The problem is the mods are using it as a dumping ground for threads about topics that they don't want to see in HL. It's just a subjective judgment call based on the personal taste of the mods with no objective standard and no regard for what the posters want.

Not every mod can be a @concise @TEKBEATZ, @3Rivers, @MightyHealthy, @Emperor_ReinScarf or @Always-Right Liggins though

I know those are high standards to live up too
