IMO, he should be taking as many serious roles he can get. Indie films, arthouse projects, supporting roles in dramas/thrillers where he can hone his acting chops. Robert Pattinson was a joke before with the sparkly vampire stuff. Then he did like 5-7 indie films that were good. Changed the perception of him. Bautista is another example. Do what they're doing completely. Then the Rock needs to work with a director to make a fire ass action series. What John Wick did for Keanu....The Rock needs something like that. Dark. Gritty. Serious. If the Rock can get his own John Wick type series, he'd be good :banderas: You add that with all the other serious film projects he'd have in his catalog by then and he'd be on the right track :ehh: He needs to avoid the mindless garbage he's been doing.
Problem with Rock is he's sooooo image conscious and doesn't want to show any part of himself that isn't carefully curated.

Agree 100% that he needs to get into more mature projects. Slim down a bit, find some serious mystery/detective/dark shyt with an ambiguous good/bad character. He wants to be Arnold but there can only be one "Ah-Nald." Rock gotta find his own lane. I think the talent is there but he's gotta play an actual character besides a variation of himself.

Rock getting WIll Smith post-After Earth levels of bad press right now :picard:

What's crazy is Baywatch flopped hard almost a decade ago and The Rock nearly had a mental breakdown, but he still didn't get all the bad press he's getting now.

Baywatch was his Wild Wild West. Black Adam was his After Earth. I wonder who The Rock will end up slapping at the Oscars. :ohhh:

People love The Rock when he was a charismatic trash talking jock. He plays a bad guy way better than a hero but his ego is so huge that he only takes roles where he is the good guy.

The public is also tired of him. He needs to step away for a while and when he returns he needs to step out of his comfort zone and play different roles.
