It’s a question I had to ask myself whenever I felt ‘shame’ for being with my daughter alone in public without a woman figure..

I still reciprocate kindness because it’s the right thing to do. I’m not hurting anybody, just showing warmth to another human being, you know?

My problem is that I’m not spontaneous and I much prefer to be left alone. But I’d feel like an a$$hole for ignoring a child.

You can't do this in 2022. Regardless of how you feel about it. If this would have happened in 1988 nobody would have cared. If it got back to the parents they'd probably rag the kid and call them ashy larry for a week.

I mean, looking at it in the context of the video, the kids looked to be lined up in queue, time restraints are most likely a factor.. those photographers move fast..

we might not have time to squirt a dab in your hand and pray the lotion is rubbed in all the way or is applied in the right spot or if it even makes your face and not on that nice shirt your mom bought. So, I do it myself.. quick, efficient and ash free

Same way in this situation, I wouldn’t hand a 5 year old a Kleenex tissue and say ‘clean’ your nose.. 9/10 there’s going to be a bigger mess of snot then before and we need this face clear for this camera shot, so bring that nose here and blow.. lemme wipe up this mess and keep it pushing. It’s kind of instinctual.
