Dam man The Source dropped the ball crazy. They could’ve still been relevant today and had a media empire if they had integrity at the top level. They were the literal bible of hip hop and had the power to put artists on. I guess that model was rife for corruption due to that.

Interscope crushed them, you are spot on.

Then after the Interscope/Aftermath/Shady monopoly that stopped their revenue they made a mistake and gave Lil Kim 5 mics and it was a wrap after that.

They are still about, but don't hold nowhere near the amount of reverence and impact within the hiphop community.

I understand the first two, but what exactly stands out about the Nas cover? :wtf:

Lol It was part of a quadruple set. To represent the American flag. This was before 'Ether' even dropped. This is the article where he exposed the Carmen story before Jay got a chance to son him.

I dont know about that, but I will say XXL was a lot of fun like a hiphop gossip beef like magazine. Elliot Wilson would start the editorial with a crazed rant and every page was like chaos after chaos. It was fun. The Source was pure serious to even get The Source Rhyme of the Month was a real honor! I think Prodigy might have gotten the most Rhyme of the Months.

Anyway It's a shame XXL got corrupt and then shifted The Source well out of position to claims first first second and third. That era you posted with Em, 50 and Dre was the end of The Source.
