Not unprecedented...most fighters are 10 plus pounds the actual weight class that the fight is being contested at..

The thing is that the catchweight was at 141, Gamache rehydrated to 145 and Gatti to... 160. Had they both rehydrated to similar or even close weights, it wouldn't have been that much a problem but Gatti had 15 pounds on Gamache which is non negligible in those weight classes.
