How did that pack him up? The stats only go back 12 years. On top of that the tweeter in OP goes into more detail. It isn't that teams are running less pick and roll, it's that defenses are taking more steps to prevent the pick and roll before it occurs. Things like blitzing the ball handler, picking them up closer to half court so that if a pick is set the defense has more ways and time to adjust which leads to teams making their own adjustments.

Add in more teams pushing the tempo and trying to score in transition. And more teams pre-switch everything so would those count as picks?
