Social Media has brought a lot of stuff to the forefront, but all overemotionalism aside I think I see OP's overall point.
I mean has there ever been anything even close to that #crimingwhilewhite hashtag? I felt that some of those kats were bragging about their exploits but all that aside, things like that would have never reached the audience it did if it wasn't for something on the level of Twitter. We are in an age where the world is literally at your fingertips. You don't need to wait for world news to come on television to know what's going on somewhere overseas. Their local papers are online and a click away. So now their news is a common occurrence for you so subconciously it's like anything negative for them makes it seem as if it is all brand new. But this is a trick of psychology. It's new to you.

Everything Bush did is affecting us now, while Obama's policies are gonna REALLY hit home during the next two administrations.
