Whatever you think Udoka is responsible for, Rob Williams, Smart, Tatum, Jaylen, Horford etc were all notable defenders before he was HC. Nobody is miraculously turning this current Nets squad into a defensive juggernaut.
Besides, Luka forces switches to get himself on the weaker/smaller defenders against every team. It's not the fault of the coach that this happens. What happened in the 4th quarter and OT was more a lack of communication from the Nets players than anything else; the PnR defense between O'Neale and Watanbe was especially bad.
Team isn't built well. Really seems to be the beginning and end of the conversation. 
But if you want to maybe low key tin foil hat it, breh asked to either be traded, or have the coach and GM fired, and got neither. Players have checked out on teams for less.

30 is still 30, but the team around him are also a big part in making that 30 effective.
If you can't stop the other team from scoring as easily, via team defense then it don't matter.
A 30 point outburst don't mean shyt when everybody else lets the other team score 35.

outside of 20-21 season their rating keeps in them in bottom 10 teams in the league. Defense takes a lot of energy exertion tho, so its prob why they can still score high volume.
