It is being reported that ISIS is now in control of several MiG-21 Fishbed and MiG-23 Flogger fighter jets, as western fighter pilots everywhere begin to salivate.
A handout picture supplied by Syrian activists shows the Syrian air force Russian-made MiG-21 plane that a pilot landed with in the King Hussein military base in Mafraq in northern Jordan on June 21, 2012. Witnesses say ISIS is training to fly three captured MiG-21s.
Former members of the Iraq Army who have joined ISIS have apparently been training other members of the group to fly three fighter jets, which were captured during the Islamic State’s invasion of Iraq.
Unconfirmed reports from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights are also stating that the planes have been spotted flying from the captured al-Jarrah military airport just east of Aleppo.
I can only imagine the smiles, round house high fives, and shirtless volleyball matches that spontaneously filled the briefing room when the western pilots operating over Iraq and Syria heard the news that they would be getting some air to air kills.
This short amateur video that was released on the 18th of October, apparently shows a training flight taking off 70 kilometers east of Aleppo. We’re looking forward to sharing the video of it going down in flames later this week.
