There are cynics who won't want to hear this, but regardless of the morality of Israel as a state and western country support of it, the west is most likely keeping Israel's worst impulse in check which is a somewhat positive outcome.

Western world is in a global fight between liberal democratic governance and authoritarianism. There is no strategic advantage to sit by and allow the world to watch Israel commit a massive atrocity without any intervention or push back. Otherwise if you allow that then how can you justify arguments to punish Putin for what he did.
