- so the new season of her hit show is going to focus on toxic black male masculinity

- and she has an entirely NEW SHOW devoted to a bisexual black man.

I'm just wondering where all the Issa lovers are...brothas where y'all at? speak up. :coffee:

Never cared for the mud duck or her show.

I get what y’all are saying but there’s literally like less than 1% of black gay characters on TV. Now I’m not watching Issa’s trash shyt cause the black gay the media pushes isn’t me. However, I’d like to see an average everyday type brutha that happens to be gay. He’s not twerking or matching in parades but just taking care of his business as a black man.

I think she's being used...if this was the type of show she wanted to make, she'd have done it with Awkward black girl, which was never anti-black male.

nah they're using her to push an agenda man, but she ain't going back to youtube and give up her fame and wealth for us "cis-hetero black men"

Exactly she is bought and paid for.

So straight black men are not relevant enough to do a tv show about..we have to be gay or bisexual,c00ning or simping whore mongers..thats what passes for progressive now? How about a black man in committed relationship that does right by his family and community cause nobody wants to see that shyt in 2018 right? I understand the need to show black people's experience in all walks of life but there is this blind spot forming around anything that does not push a certain narrative or lifestyle. The show will be entertaining to those that fukk with her propaganda but you can almost see where this train is going to go off the rails and crash..I enjoyed Insecure, the same way i would enjoy a comedy.laugh, schratch my head a few times on what thee fukk are these cats on but i fail to see why she is the go to black experience damu when a lot of us dont really fukk with her like that

My comments are only about her new show. I have no issue with insecure.

What your talking about rarely happens on shows dealing with bi black men. Look at moonlight and even Empire where the bad guy in that topic is black.

Don’t ignore the venom comments, your included when it comes to gay or bi men and then say who tv portrays as the bad guys for those men. Your doing the job proving their point.

I’ve yet to here are a legit argument to discredit Issa. Dudes heard toxic masculinity and freaked out. Liked the ladies of her current show aren’t portrayed way worse not any of the men on it. Issa and Molly are entertaining but HORRIBLE self destructive women.

Show about a bi dude. We don’t know what this man social circle, poor or wealthy, we don’t anything about the show yet.

What representation are some of y’all looking for? I’m not in hood themes but y’all have the Chi, Atlanta, Claws ( doctor)

Comics clock & dagger ( clock as a Strong blk str8 family), black lighting, the flash( half the cast is black), agents of shield,

Middle class to wealth. This is US, black lighting again, blackish, grownish, Claws again

Etc..... all of these shows or characters are str8 & well written..

What are you guys asking for?

You just discredited her while also inadvertently making the argument that more black women should be speaking out against her.

I've made this exact point several times btw. In the large season thread for insecure in the movie/tv section, I've posted about how none of the women characters on the show are likeable including Issa herself and how the show low key is a bad look for black women.

when it comes to the demoghrapic that i am referring to,not enough..you make a good point though and i am not that opinionated that i turn a blind eye to your argument, some of these shows have a good enough grasp on some of the issues that i want to see in mainstream shows.I do believe that a show where the main character is relatable to a section of black men that are usually dissected into digestable stereotypes has not been made yet.
