Watching the movie as an adult, it's so watered down compared to the book. I mean

The fukking spider picks Eddie up and drops him, and then he dies. That's all it takes. Eddie had his arm bitten off in the book.

An R-rating lets things like the Patrick Hockstetter scene happen, and actual on-screen deaths. Pennywise was shown as both funny and creepy in the miniseries. An R-rated flick would show Pennywise's ruthlessness. shyt like this...
