I don't think you can just assume everyone got their info from a strategy guide. a game like The Talos Principle doesn't even have an official guide, but never the less people figured out all those puzzles, and found some crazy easter eggs. and some of the puzzles in that game are pretty damn hard. some people are just good at that shyt :manny:

I clearly said SOME in the OP. Some instances I go how the hell did somebody find this, I'm talking about those moments. Yal love playing Devil's Advocate about everything. So out of all the games you've ever played, you never were impressed or surprised that people figured something out?

...get you hella clicks/views online.

I know I'm not the only person that will be going for a specific trophy, or an item in a game and go to Youtube to see how it's obtained. Then, you see what's uploaded and go :wtf:

"How in the hell did he know to do that?"

Now in some cases, you have people that just explore everything in a game and just figure it accidentally. But I'm convinced some of these things I see people post on how to get, within a few days of a game releasing is simply because they have a strategy guide explaining it. And they then become the strategy guide for thousands or millions of people depending on how ridiculous the task is.

Destiny is a game that comes to mind, because Bungie literally doesn't put a lot of info in the game AT ALL, so when I see people with tutorials on how to get shyt that seems completely impossible to just stumble upon, I have to call bullshyt... these dudes copping strategy guides... I'm sure of it.

Random Thoughts... but that's what forums are for
:yeshrug:

all my 30-60k view videos on youtube are me explaining how to do something (quickest way to achieve something, fastest way to level, etc.)

while all my 1-5k view videos on youtube are me actually doing good in a game :russ:

yea, how some people figure some of this shyt out amazes me...and it makes me jealous sometimes...it means they have the time and financial means to just sit at home and play games until they figure the shyt out....lucky b*stards lol...

side note: had this convo the other day that goes along with this topic...it was about how people dont even 'try' anymore in games, they just run to the internet to find out how to do shyt....yea, we had guides back in the day, but they were last resorts....you went to them after you tried to figure the shyt out and just were stuck...nowadays, people dont even try to figure the shyt out....they just wait until someone does it and posts how to do it online....to me, that takes a lot of the fun outta of gaming....

yeah, sometimes I'm quick to look shyt up when I get stuck. but I usually just try to look for a clue, and not the complete solution

I agree for SOME games, but other games don't do a great job of explaining stuff... so sometimes you have to ask yourself, "do I feel like wasting my time trying to figure something out, or do I just cave and Youtube it"

2 main games in my rotation right now are Destiny and MGSV. Both games have a lot of secrets and intricate stuff to them... with Destiny, Bungie really really did not go into a lot of the special/secret stuff that's in the game. Like that Black Spindle mission... if it weren't for that video I can't imagine how many people would have no idea how to get that gun. And when you play that mission it's like you have to get lost to even realize you can go that route to get it.

In a perfect world, these games would explain everything to a T, or at least have clever riddles that the player can piece together and find out without assistance... that's just not the case for a lot of games. And it makes me think that these Devs sit around and just say, "we don't have to allude to this or that because somebody will figure it out and upload it online anyway".

to me though: wasting time trying to figure stuff out is part of the fun...the journey to that end goal....that's how i've always felt when it came to gaming...ex: that's why my play time rarely equals what people say when they talk about beating a game in x amount of hours...they tend to go through the game to just get to the end...where as i explore the shyt outta of a game and it takes me longer to finish them...

watching vids for secret shyt is different than watching vids as a walkthrough....i'm talking about watching vids to help you walkthrough and beat the game for the most part before you even try to figure shyt out....using destiny as an example for both: the black spindle would be an example of finding secret shyt and letting that gaming community know about it.....where as, one of the cats i game with goes online to see how to beat the raid before we've actually tried the raid....and then when we try it, he's quick to tell us 'how to beat'....that take some of the fun outta it to me....see what i mean?...

devs do give us hints that there are secrets and shyt in their games...ex: destiny saying there is a bunch of shyt to discover, we just not gonna tell you how to find it.....i just think they dont lay it all out there for us cause they want people to actually play and spend time with their games....if they laid everything out there for us, i think many wouldnt spend as much time on games as they do...they'd just do the shyt as fast as possible, then be done with it...cause we're a 'on to the next as fast as possible' society.....
