He needs the surgery... now it’s even worse timing for him because he will be a free agent this summer.

He might be forced to take a cheap short term deal with somebody. Hopefully a team will be ok with him getting surgery and basically missing most of next season.

Even after surgery tho, there is a good chance he will not ever be the same player...

There is no "short term" for him. He's already 29. He has like 2-3 prime years left (if that, who knows how this hip thing goin affect him)

Man, it's been a tough year for him, both professionally and personally. A year ago, he was on his way to getting max money.

Blame Lebron. He inadvertently set this in motion by running Kyrie away.:troll:

*sarcasm*

someone will say this exact thing and mean it :russ:

its getting worse and worse :wow:

I wrote this at the beginning of the season.

The smaller influence is that players keep getting bigger and stronger and jumping higher.

But the really big influence is that more and more, players are being expected to go hard all game, every game, for an 82-game regular season and then some.

Watch an old game from the 1980s, not a playoff game or a big rivalry game but just some regular game. Watch how many rebounds are made without anyone even leaving their feet. Watch how many shots are taken without someone contesting them hard. Watch how easy it is to have a fast break and how often guys don't get back.

They're simply playing a hell of a lot harder now. It's not a sudden thing, it's been almost continuous for the entire history of the game. The sport was far, far lazier on both ends in the 1950s and 1960s, but when someone ups the anti and starts playing harder, others have had to respond or they were going to fall behind. The race never ends.

Now you got players who are heavier for their height than they've ever been, while also being more athletic than they've ever been, training harder than they've ever trained, and using that athleticism more than they've ever had to use it.

But they're still human bodies. Conditioning and nutrition have improved, but it's not enough. The harder you run those bodies, the more injuries there are going to be. That's why it's been like five straight years now of stars and role players both doing down with injury on the regular, and it will only get worse.
